However, Ashley dumps her when Robin’s heart condition prevents her from dancing. Chuck returns and he and Robin reconcile.

SynopsisBarbara and Norman, who works in her father’s factory, fall in love. He proposes marriage but says he’s opening his own design studio and they must live on his salary alone. Barbara asks her father to give Norman a promotion, but Norman won’t accept it. Norman’s firm begins to fail and Barbara prevents the local banker from extending him a loan. Norman goes back to work in the factory, but just before he marries Barbara, Norman learns what she did. He breaks up with her. Barbara becomes a nurse to become “useful” and hopes Norman will return some day.

Her aunt recovers and goes on a trip; Nicky comes by for a visit and he and Eva spot Tim in a nightclub with another woman: his wife. Tim later says he wants to stay married to his rich wife but Eva can be his mistress. Nicky punches Tim. Eva and Nicky go home together.

Norman convinces Sally to kiss a client as a “joke,” but they’re both later arrested for blackmail. Sally is freed and decides to leave town to escape the scandal. Bill shows up and they reconcile.
